Google Image Labeler - It’s FUN!

You can just see the meeting now. A load of people in the Google office thinking “How can we index images better?”. Probably a heated discussion on algorithms and spiders ensues until someone pipes up with “Make a fun game and get people without much of a life to tag all the images on the Internet!”. Genius!

Google Image Labeller is a fun way of labelling all the great Images on the Internet. You simply login to the system are you are paired up with someone else with nothing better to do either. You’re then given an image to label. If you get the same as your partner you both get 100 Points. Yes, i know. This then continues until you’ve indexed all the images on the internet. or you die, or get bored or summit.

Is this the best they can come up with as a way to index images ? Or is it another move towards “tagging” becoming the future of search like the social bookmarking sites? Have a look but don’t waste your life like “jessicapierce” who has a High Score of 20529100!! That’s 205,291 images she’s labeled!
