Stop WordPress Comment Spam
At one point I was going to abandon alexdigital.com all together purely due to the amount of comment spam I would have to sort through on a daily basis. I was getting over a 100 per day, it was getting ridiculous.
Now I’ve discovered Akismet. And WordPress comment spam is a thing of the past. It’s pretty easy to setup and install, although you do need a wordpress.com API key to get it working so be sure you’ve setup an account here.
Once you’re signed up and logged in over at wordpress.com you need to take a look in “My Account” and then “My Profile” and you should see your API key at the top of the page. Copy and paste it into Akismet, via your WordPress control panel on the blog you’re installing Akismet on, and you should be good to go.
Take a look at all the rubbish mines been collecting..
I can’t believe I haven’t been using it before now! ANd don’t worry about missing legit comments. Akismet connects to central servers to get it’s data giving at an accuracy rate of over 99%!
